 2018 Preview 


       Dale County completed the 2017 season with a 7-4 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 4A region two, the Warriors earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Dale County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Bibb County by a score of 41-12.

       Since 2010, Dale County has gone a combined 48-42. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 4A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Dale County has managed to compile a record of 142-120. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 4A and 147th in the AHSAA.




       The Warriors will be under the direction of new head football coach Don Moore as they enter the 2018 season.

       The Dale County Warriors will play in Class 4A region two during the 2018 season.

       The Warriors should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Warriors open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Ariton on Friday, August 24 at Robert F. Zumstien Stadium. Last year the Ariton Purple Cats finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 2A region two. The Purple Cats lost in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs to Leroy by a score of 35-21.

       Dale County and Ariton have met a total of 8 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 5-3-0 record against the Purple Cats. They last met in 1935 with Dale County winning by a score of 34-0.

The first football game played by a high school team in Alabama was in 1892 when Central Birmingham (Phillips) lost to Alabama 56-0 on November 11.
